The Ringgold volleyball team defeated Henry County in three sets on Wednesday, Oct. 17 to advance to the "Sweet Sixteen" in Class AAA.
The Tigers, who recently finished fourth in the area tournament, won their matches 25-14, 25-9 and 25-9.
Ringgold head coach Leslie Sawyer said she pleased with her team's performance and ability to carry on the Tigers' "winning tradition."
"I definitely thought we had a really good chance of winning," she said. "I knew we had a strong group of seniors and we were all very excited."
Sawyer said Ringgold has went to state playoffs and finished in the top 16 for the past 10 years. She said "breaking the streak" wasn't an option.
"We just want to keep winning," she said. Ringgold will face the ultimate test on Tuesday, Oct. 23 when they play at No. 3 state ranked St. Pius X.
Sawyer said she is proud of everything her team has accomplished up until this point, and hopes they would continue to play as a team.
"We're going to play hard and do our best," she said. "We're just going to play our little hearts out and try to win."
