Pepperell's Jones signs with Shorter

Pepperell High senior Chloe Jones signed a softball scholarship on Monday with Shorter University.

Jones said of the signing: “I did have a lot of emotions. I was happy and sad at the same time. I was sad because I know it means I’m leaving high school and all the people I love here, but I’m excited to start a new chapter. I’m excited that I get to continue playing softball in college.”

“I wanted to go there (Shorter) because it’s so close, and I wanted my family to be able to come to my games. I didn’t want to go too far because I love home so much. The coach at Shorter is really sweet, and I met some of the girls and they all seemed really nice and like a really tight team.”

“I’m really nervous, but I’m ready to get started there and meet new friends and really start over. I know I’ll miss high school, but once I get to Shorter, I’m sure I will be ready for a new thing, a new challenge.”

Also attending the signing and are pictured along with Jones (center) are (from left) mother Amy McGinty and stepfather Phillip McGinty.
