Terry Spears, a pillar of the Rome, GA community, passed away on September 28, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Glenda Spears, who shared 57 years of marriage. Terry, a mattress industry veteran, started Spears Mattress with his brother Ed in March of 1973, and later brought in their younger brother Gene. After 38 years of successful business, they decided to sell the company. Terry retired in 2011, and would later come out of retirement 4 years later to open Heritage Sleep Concepts here in Rome. Spears Mattress was a key employer for Floyd County for many years, and Heritage Sleep currently employs around 75 people. Terry and Glenda were members of Pleasant Valley South Baptist church in Silver Creek, where he served as a deacon and choir member. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Terry is survived by his wife Glenda, daughters Kristi Beck and Robin Simpson, son in laws Frankie Beck and Barry Simpson, and grandchildren Jordan Beck, Jamie Beck, and Bryant Simpson. Don spears will be presiding over the funeral. Pallbearers are Jordan Beck, Jamie Beck, Bryant Simpson, Scotty Spears, Brian Spears, Kirk Spears. A funeral service will be conducted September 30, 2021 at 2pm in the chapel of Daniels Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12pm until 2pm. An interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
