Mr. Paul Lawrence Shetter, Sr., age 85, West Melbourne, FL, formerly of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, June 22, 2021, in Rockledge, FL. Mr. Shetter was born in Catoosa County, GA on January 14, 1936, son of the late Carl and Arlie Bird Shetter. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Abbie Shetter, by 2 sisters, Marjorie Hardy and Ann Swafford, and by 3 brothers, Jimmy, Fred, and David Shetter. Mr. Shetter served the U. S. Army Reserves for several years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a draftsman with General Electric here in Rome for many years. Mr. Shetter was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rome where he served as an Elder and Deacon and was a volunteer with the Community Soup Kitchen. He was a life-time member of the John Birch Society. Survivors include his wife, the former Patricia Ann "Pat" Walker, to whom he was married on July 17, 1966; 8 daughters, Suzy Docker (John), Port Orange, FL, L. J. Pearce (Bobby), South Bay, FL, Paula Wilson (Nate), Manhattan, KS, Katie Shetter Flanery (Tim), Rome, Patsy George (Nathan), Charlotte, NC, Lisa Brendemuehl (Bill), Charlotte, NC, Korie Camerana, Charleston, SC, and Gia Shetter, Atlanta; 3 sons, Paul Shetter, Jr. (Vicki), Dallas, GA, Kevin Shetter (Agnes), West Melbourne, FL, and Gavin Shetter, California; 3 sisters, Judy Stevens, Dayton, TN, Sue Pruitt and Dee Janow, both of Falling Water, TN; a brother, Danny Shetter, Grandview, TN; 33 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Nathan George, the Rev. Nate Wilson, and the Rev. Bill Pardue officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mark Mausoleum at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 12 noon until the service hour. Mr. Shetter's grandchildren and nephew will serve as his pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rome-Floyd Community Soup Kitchen or to Haven Health Clinic (Crisis Pregnancy Center).
