Mrs. Maryland Ransom "Grammy" Sharpe, age 75, of Armuchee, GA, and the community of Everett Springs, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, at her residence. Maryland was born in Calhoun, GA on August 29, 1946. Her parents are the late Alfred Moreland Ransom and Mary Alice Miller Ransom. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James "Jackie" Sharpe, daughter, Sonya Gowens, sister, Ilene Woodfin, and brother, Freddy Ransom. Maryland graduated from Armuchee High School in 1964. She married her high school sweetheart, Jackie Sharpe, later that same year. She was an active member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and a beloved and involved member of the Everett Springs community. She spent her time and talents designing wedding cakes and other cakes for special occasions, and providing seamstress services for proms, weddings, and Christmas pageants. Maryland worked as a seamstress for several local businesses owned by the McAbee family (McAbee Cleaners) starting in 1982, until her retirement in the late 1990's. Maryland was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Maryland is survived by her children, which include: Jackie and Jennifer Sharpe, Darin Sharpe, Dana Jones, and Tracey Gowens (the late Sonya Gowens). Her grandchildren include: Katie Sharpe Haynes and Carlynn Sharpe-Ehui (daughters of Jackie), Conrad Sharpe and Dalton Sharpe (sons of Darin), Madilyn and Jameson Gowens (children of Sonya), Franki Lay, Ford Jones, and Sharpe Jones (children of Dana). Her grandsons-in-law, include Ian Haynes and Patrick Ehui. Her great-grandchildren are Jackson, Lillian, and Lowery Haynes (children of Katie and Ian Haynes). She is also survived her brother Doyle Ransom, her sister-in-law and dear friend Sandra Ransom, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 5 to 7 pm. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 2:00pm at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastors Dale McConkey and Wayne Hopper officiating. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
