Mrs. Opal Beatrice Coley Morris, age 82, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021, in a local hospital. Mrs. Morris was born in Chattooga County, GA on January 27, 1939, daughter of the late Tison and Romer Connell Coley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Terry Lee "J. T." Morris, by a sister, Pearlie Webb, and by 3 brothers, Marvin, Roy, and Howard Coley. Mrs. Morris was a homemaker, who was completely dedicated to her family, and was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church. Opal devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She had a way of making them feel heard, seen, and celebrated. She took a light-hearted approach to life with a witty sense of humor, a genuine smile, and worked diligently preparing her children to be successful. She delighted in them, always stopping what she was doing to make them feel valued. She was known for making enough food to feed not only her family, but many neighbors too and never allowed guests to leave empty handed. She approached the topic of death as a win-win situation saying that she was a winner either way. We, her children, have been blessed with a mom who instilled in us the love of Christ, the importance of serving your neighbors, and having compassion for all. Mostly, though, we were blessed by being loved. Survivors include 2 daughters, Donna Bentley, Rockmart, and Angel Cargle (Tony), Kingston; 2 sons, John Morris (Kelly), Cedartown, and Ron Morris (Lilly), Silver Creek; 2 sisters, Betty Hall, Cedartown, and Joy Webb, Douglasville; 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held in the Morris Family Cemetery with her son-in-law, the Rev. Tony Cargle officiating. A celebration of Mrs. Morris' life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Navigators of Rome, 255 W. 5th Street, Rome, GA 30165. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
