Mrs. Phyllis Velie Hannay, age 94, of Rome, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in a local hospital. Mrs. Hannay was born in Greenville, NY on February 24, 1927, daughter of the late Roscoe Byron Velie and Elizabeth Finch Velie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Hannay, and by a sister, Doris Elizabeth Velie Hannay. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hannay was employed as a Bookkeeper with Sears, Roebuck and Company for 11 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lindale. Survivors include 2 sons, Curtis Richard Hannay, Afton, WY, and Dr. Keith Hannay (Marsha), Centre, AL; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Andrew Hannay, St. Petersburg, FL, Zachary Curtis Hannay (Alyssa), Orlando, FL, Rebekah Susanne Jordan (Justin), Leesburg, VA, Amanda Lynn Clark (Aaron), Atlanta, and Dr. Mark Richard Hannay, Kingsville, TX; 4 great grandchildren, Canon James Jordan, Taylor Anne Jordan, Logan Grace Clark, and Harper June Clark; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, at 11am at the graveside in Rome Memorial Park. Dr. Phil Patterson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lindale, P. O. Box 26, Lindale, GA 30147. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
