Ronald G. Cockrel, age 88, of Woodstock, Ga. passed away to be with his Heavenly Father on October 10, 2021. He is survived by his son, Donald Cockrel, daughter-in-law Suzanne Cockrel, and grandson Zack Cockrel. Ron was born in Joppa Illinois on September 10, 1933. He was a Veteran with 2 years spent in the Army. Ron graduated from the University of Missouri with a Forestry Degree. He was predeceased by his sister Pat Dyer and loved wife Margaret Ellen Cockrel. Before moving to Woodstock following the passing of Margaret, Ron lived in Rome, Georgia for 20 years where he worked at Georgia Pacific International Paper Corporation. Ron was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Rome. While living in Woodstock he attended First Baptist Roswell. Ron volunteered his time to help in Hospice, teaching Sunday School, loved nature, being outdoors, enjoyed hiking with friends, and loved being with his family. Ron will be remembered by many as being very kind and a loving man with a gentle soul. Ron resides at Daniel's Funeral Home 901 East 2nd Avenue, Rome, Ga. 30161. A graveside service honoring the life of Ron will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens 2549 Shorter Avenue NW, Rome Georgia 30165.
