Kathleen  Barnes

Kathleen Money Barnes passed away peacefully at Redmond Regional Medical Center on Friday, November 12, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born December 6, 1929, in Cherokee County, AL. Kathleen was the daughter of the late Theodore and Allie Mae Money and was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Alvin Barnes, and her siblings, Faye Money, Joe Connor Money and Ruby Jewel Shell. Kathleen met her husband, Alvin, in Cherokee County, AL, and was married to him on April 22, 1947. Shortly after, she and her husband moved to Rome, GA, where they raised their family. She was a lifelong Baptist and had been an active member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church since the 1950s, participating in the Ray Club, Senior Adult Choir and Bernice Swann Sunday School Class. She was a retired bus driver from the Floyd County School System and is fondly remembered as 'the Tupperware lady' due to her service selling Tupperware for over 40 years. She is survived by her siblings, Jack Money of Rome, GA, Dean Abston of Rome, GA, and Flora Sills of Petal, MS; three children, Jimmy (Jeanette) Barnes of Rome, GA, Tommy (Vicki) Barnes of White, GA, and Michael (Jerre) Barnes of Marietta, GA; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Kristen) Barnes of Marietta, GA, Melanie (Eli) Freeman of Tinker Air Force Base, OK, Elizabeth Barnes of Rome, GA, Christina (Lucas) Schultz of Rome, GA, Hannah (Jared) Williams of Moreland, GA, Stephanie Barnes of Birmingham, AL, Braden Barnes of Smyrna, GA and Katie-Anne Barnes of Marietta, GA; four great-grandchildren, Isaiah Schultz of Rome, GA, Isabelle Schultz of Rome, GA, Tucker Williams of Moreland, GA, and Reed Barnes of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family received friends on Monday, November 15, 2021, from 10:00 am until the service time at Garden Lakes Baptist Church in Rome, GA. Funeral services were held at 12:00 pm at Garden Lakes Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Gentry officiating. Interment followed at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Her pallbearers were Tim Shell, Greg Slater, Bob Sills, Beto Castro, Daniel Barnes and Braden Barnes. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Garden Lakes Baptist Church of Rome, GA. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, had charge of the arrangements.
