Rome Shakespeare Festival’s “Comedy of Errors” cast includes Aubrey Dorsey as Dromio of Ephesus, Isaac Brackett as Antipholus of Ephesus and Constanza Sweeney as Courtezan.

Rome Shakespeare Festival opens today on the Town Green.

The festival opens with performances of “Comedy of Errors” as well as a young artists’ rendition of “Romeo and Juliet.”

Performances start at 6 p.m. and will run each night starting today through Sunday, Sept. 27.

Saturday is Family Day and activities begin at noon with “Winnie the Pooh” songs and dances performed beloved characters. There will be performances by Rome Youth Symphony Quartet, the Baird Ballet’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Julie Bearden Carver’s Callback Company as well as others. “Romeo and Juliet” and “Comedy of Errors” performances will begin at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, the Intercultural Hispanic festivities of music and dance will begin at 2 p.m. A special guest, Miss Teen Universe, USA Maria Gabriela Escudero, will make an appearance. “Romeo and Juliet” and “Comedy of Errors” performances will begin at 6 p.m.

Social distancing is being observed for table seating or blanket seatings. Evenings are cool so audiences are encouraged to bring warm clothing for evening performances.
