solar sky watch

Area residents can safely observe the sun on Saturday at Cartersville’s Tellus Museum.

With special filters on the museum’s telescope in the Observatory, visitors can safely view earth’s closest star, the sun. They’ll be able to see sunspots and loops of hot hydrogen gas called prominences that extend off the disc of the sun.

Solar Sky Watch takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to members, regular admission for non-members, and is suitable for all ages.
