A Rockmart man remained in critical condition at an Atlanta area hospital last Thursday after he was struck by a train while attempting to cross the tracks, according to Rockmart Police Chief Randy Turner.
According to Turner:
Joseph Ledford, 30, was riding his bicycle on North Piedmont Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, when he attempted to cross the railroad tracks near the Pizza Depot restaurant as a train was coming.
Ledford did not make it across the tracks in time and was struck by the train. First responders arrived and he was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Turner said Thursday that Ledford was in critical but stable condition on Thursday afternoon. No charges are pending in relation to the incident.
