The Avenue in Cedartown

The Avenue provides a variety of southern-based menu items at the steak house located on East Avenue.

Looking for a new place to sit down for a bite but don't want to have to drive too far out of the way?

Located at 1229 East Avenue in Cedartown, The Avenue Cafe and Steakhouse is just right around the corner and are using a vast array of southern foods to win the hearts of citizens and cement its place in Cedartown's food chain.

What was once a barbecue joint and a southern kitchen paved the way for The Avenue to rise from the ashes. Like the former restaurant, Cedartown's cafe serves primarily southern food. Customers will find various meats including country fried steak, meat loaf, chicken livers, beef tips, and fried chicken; vegetables include standards such as mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potato casserole, creamed corn, turnip greens, pinto beans, squash casserole, English peas, watermelon chunks, and salads- among others.

If you've got a sweet tooth, the Avenue has you covered. On their menu is key lime pie, strawberry shortcake, turtle pie, chocolate pie, and cheesecake.

One concept the Avenue has that helps build a unique atmosphere is their fill out the menu gimmick. Upon entering, customers are supplied with a paper menu and writing utensils. Customers simply have to circle what they want and submit their menus for the staff to receive their order.

Regardless of the food served or how its ordered, the ambiance of a restaurant is always an important factor for the hungry. The Avenue is a casual, sit down restaurant with low lights and plenty of space. There are tables in the middle for the extroverts and cozy booths in the back for introverts. The tables are all lined with silverware ahead of time and the cool atmosphere is reflective of what a cafe is.

Having a versatile atmosphere is important for restaurants—especially a cafe. If a customer isn't hungry, they can make good on the cafe aspect of the restaurant and order something to drink while sitting in the back with a friend. The restaurant has coffee, soda, water, and tea. Partaking in the joint's Thursday trivia night for an hour or two immediately becomes more enjoyable when the interior is relaxing and you have something to drink.

The Avenue is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday-Tuesday, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday. It's in a medium price range with some of their more expensive items reaching $8 to $9.
