A Powder Springs man was found dead in his car Sunday, Oct. 31, after he allegedly drove off of a rural Polk County road and struck a tree.

According to the Georgia State Patrol:

Tyler Sullivan, 27, was driving a Ford Mustang west on Prior Station Road west of Cedartown when he failed to negotiate a right curve and crossed the center yellow line. He then ran off the road and went down an embankment before the car hit a tree on the driver side door and came to a stop.

Sullivan reportedly succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by Polk County Coroner Norman Smith prior to Georgia State Patrol’s arrival in the early evening of Oct. 31. Smith gave the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

Sullivan had been visiting family in the area on Saturday, Oct. 30, according to Smith, and was last seen after midnight early Sunday morning. When his family didn’t hear from him, they decided to search for him and found his car.
