Polk County Animal Control wants to make sure that pets within the shelter have every opportunity of finding forever homes.

Officials have reduced the adoption fees for cats for the time being to help encourage adoptions. The fee for cat adoptions is now $10. The adoption fee for dogs remains $40.

First up are brothers volunteers have named TJ (ID No. 47870010) and Taryll (ID No. 47870123). They were picked up together as strays. They are retriever/collie type juveniles, just under a year old and weigh about 45 pounds. They are a little timid and unsure but are very friendly. They are learning to walk on leash. TJ and Taryll can be adopted separately or together. They are sweet boys.

Second is a male Tabby kitten volunteers have named Taylor (ID No. 47797760). He is about 6 months old. Taylor is super friendly and playful. He would be a very entertaining companion!

Animal Control is open on a by-appointment only basis at this time, but is taking some walk-ins on a limited basis to keep the number of people in the facility down to physical distancing guidelines.
