New additions at Morning View Baptist Church are underway in an effort to expand the sanctuary and provide more room for a growing congregation.
The church, now in its 66th year, started on the latest phase of a building program that makes only the second expansion for Morning View Baptist in its history according their pastor, Rev. Jeff Hulsey.
"This is our second expansion since I started here nine years ago," said Hulsey. "During our first expansion of the church buildings, we previously did work on the fellowship hall and Sunday school rooms."
Hulsey said that work began earlier this summer and is expected to be completed before the end of October.
The current construction focuses on adding two additional wings to each side of the church, which will give Morning View Baptist a new entry foyer and restroom facilities.
"We are excited about what God is Doing here at Morning View we just stepped out on faith and trusting and believing," Hulsey said. "Where he guides he will provide."
Hulsey said despite all the new renovations, the spirit of the church remains at its core old fashioned, and that they believe "it's got to be all about Him."
The church can be found at 191 Clarkwood Road, just past the Dollar General on Highway 278 east of Rockmart for those seeking spiritual guidance.
Service times start on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. with Sunday school followed by 11 a.m. worship in the sanctuary. The congregation also gathers at 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings, and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. for fellowship, prayer and study.
