Mac McClung, who spent the 2020-21 season at Texas Tech after transferring from Georgetown, said he is entering the transfer portal and testing the NBA draft waters.

He made the announcement Sunday night on social media. It comes after the departure of head coach Chris Beard to Texas.

"Although things have changed, my love and appreciation for you guys remain the same," the guard posted on Twitter. "Lubbock is a very special place and I thank everyone for letting me be a part of it. My main focus now is getting ready for the up-and-coming NBA draft, while going through this process I will be in the transfer portal."

Should he decide against entering the draft, McClung will be a sought-after transfer. In his junior season at Texas Tech, McClung averaged 15.5 points on 41.9 percent shooting in 29 games (all starts). He scored 20 or more points in 10 games.

In two seasons at Georgetown, the 6-foot-2 McClung appeared in 50 games (49 starts). He averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
