The Colorado Rapids acquired forward Michael Barrios from FC Dallas on Wednesday for an international roster spot and a swap of SuperDraft picks.

FC Dallas will receive the 15th selection from the Rapids and send the 21st pick to Colorado.

"We're excited to reinforce our roster with a player of Michael's quality," Rapids general manager Pádraig Smith said in a statement. "Michael has consistently been among the top chance creators in this league and offers blistering pace that's hard to match. We believe he'll be a strong addition to our group as we build toward next season."

Barrios, 29, recorded 31 goals and 44 assists in 179 appearances (156 starts) for FC Dallas over the past six seasons.

The Colombian's best all-around season was 2019 when he scored five goals to go with a career-high 15 assists in 32 matches (31 starts).

The 5-foot-4 Barrios scored a career-best nine goals in 2016.

"Michael Barrios has been an amazing player for us and we're thankful for his contributions to the organization both on and off the field," FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said in a statement. "He brought so much joy to our fans. We wish him the best in his next chapter."
