SOCCER: Ridgeland, LaFayette split rivalry matches

Ronda and Betsy Dixon assisted on Davenport's goal, Ronda's goals were unassisted, and Stargel found the net following a loose ball in front of the goal.

Hannah Card had five saves, while the defense posted its first shutout of the season.

Ridgeland (2-7-2 overall), is now 2-3 in 6-AAA with one region match remaining. That match will be at home against Bremen on March 24. LaFayette fell to 0-8-1 overall and 0-6 in 6-AAA.

LAFAYETTE BOYS 8, RIDGELAND 3

The Ramblers led 4-0 in the first 17 minutes and lead 6-3 after a wild first half before they shut out the Panthers in the final 40 minutes.

Kaden Miller had a hat trick for LaFayette (3-6, 2-4), while Jacob Brown netted a pair of goals. Solo tallies were posted by Elijah Decker, Wyatt Ballew and Landon Kennedy with Brown and Garren Kennedy earning assists.

Rob Hannah and Lake Johnson were named as defensive standouts in the win.

For the Panthers (0-11-1, 0-5), Pedro Morales found the net twice, once off an assist by Bryan Ojeda and the second on a nice free kick from 25 yards out. Ojeda also assisted on a nifty goal by Branson Dean.

Luke Wilhelm had five saves and Isaac Shaw collected four. Standouts for Ridgeland included Ojeda, Seth Broadus and Peyton Zimmerman.

LaFayette is scheduled to host Dade County on Monday in the home finale for both teams and the regular season finale for the Rambler boys. The Lady Ramblers are slated to play at Darlington on March 27.
