Catoosa Trans-Aid bus

Catoosa County Trans-Aid received a $59,683 grant from a new Georgia Department of Transportation program funded by taxing uber, limousine and taxi rides at 25 cents each.

Catoosa County is possibly the only county in the state that has a transit service that does not charge for rides, Jason Warren, Trans-Aid director, told the Catoosa County Board of Commissioners at its May 16 meeting.

Warren said Walker County charges $4 per direction, or $8 per round trip, quite a lot for people living on Social Security or other limited forms of income.
