The Calhoun Blue Barracudas youth swim team was recognized for their accomplishments over the summer at a recent Calhoun City Council meeting.
The team, which is coached by Mike Beeler and competes out of the Calhoun Recreation Department, had a stellar season, which included some big performances at the GRPA State Meet. They broke three state records in the 11-12 Mixed Medley Relay, the 15-18 Boys Free and the 15-18 Boys Medley Relay.
In total, the Barracudas had 16 first-place finishes at State, 15 second-place finishes, 10 third place finishes and 13 other top-five finishes. The teams combined for a third-place team finish with the boys taking first and the girls taking fourth.
