Sonoraville High senior Cole Godfrey signed a baseball scholarship on Monday with the Shorter University in Rome.

Godfrey said of the signing: “This means a lot. I officially signed back in December, but it means a lot to do it today with three of my best friends and teammates. When I got the offer I was really excited. This is something I wanted my whole life so it’s special. (Shorter) is close to home. They have a really good baseball program and some of the best coaches so everything was right. It’s mixed emotions for me right now. I loved high school and being around my friends every day, but I’m excited to college and have some of my friends going with me. I’m ready to be around new people and see new things.”
