Calhoun High School eleventh grader Mattie Lester is the Calhoun College and Career Academy Student of the Week for March 15-19.
Mattie’s early childhood education teacher Lynn Davis nominated Mattie stating, “Mattie is a natural working with kids. She has an awesome attitude when giving early childhood education assignments. She completes assignments efficiently and with great quality. Mattie is dependable and always willing to help others in our class. She is a delight to have in class.”
Mattie chose the early childhood education pathway at CCCA because she truly enjoys working with children. She wants to be a safe place for every child and for them to know they are loved. Mattie would like to attend a four-year college. Mattie is undecided at this time but is choosing between becoming a special education teacher or a registered nurse.
Mattie is very thankful that CCCA offers an opportunity to learn through the early childhood education program. When asked about her thoughts on the ECE pathway Mattie stated, “The ECE program will truly help students find out if teaching is for them. We get hands-on activities and work with all grades and ages. The best part of the ECE program is going to Calhoun PreK/Primary School to work in the classroom! This has been a great experience for me.”
