LG Hausys completed the construction of Autoskin Plant and now prepares to target the North American auto market. Autoskin manufactures automobile interior materials such as fabrics for car seats, door panels and dashboard etc.
In regards to completion of Autoskin Plant, Mr. Jang-Soo Oh, the CEO of LG Hausys, Mr. Tom Graves, U.S. House of Representative, Mr. Mike Grundmann, the Director of Advanced Manufacturing at Georgia Department of Economic Development, Congressman John Meadows, State Representative of Gordon County, Rebecca Hood, Gordon County Commission Chairperson, Larry Roye, Development Authority Chairman of Gordon County, Kathy Johnson, President and CEO of Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Sung-Jin Kim, the Consul General at Atlanta and 100 other eminent parties attended the opening ceremony that took place in Gordon County of Georgia on April 19, 2016.
Since the groundbreaking ceremony of the Autoskin Plant in July 2014, LG Hausys has invested $40 million that resulted in completion of approximately 97 thousand square feet sized plant. The Plant is expected to manufacture approximately 60 million square feet sheet-fabrics annually, which already began production earlier this year.
Fabrics that are manufactured in LG Hausys Autoskin Plant will be supplying automobile companies including Hyundai/Kia, GM and Chrysler of North America.
The demand for LG Hausys products in the auto industry has been recognized by awards such as the ‘Supplier of the Year Award’ in October 2014 by Johnson Controls Inc., the World’s #1 auto sheet manufacturing company. With completion of the plant, it is expected that LG Hausys will gain momentum and capture more of the North America auto market.
Additional plant construction will be necessary for a continuous increase in production capability of automobiles in North America. Consequently, LG Hausys is reviewing a proposal on constructing more plants for dashboard/door panel fabric supplies in addition to the current one for sheet fabrics.
With this additional plant in Georgia, LG Hausys now holds a total of three Autoskin Plants, which are located in Ulsan, Korea, Tianjin, China and now in the United States. Having secured the manufacturing plants in both China and in the United States, the two combined will now be able to better accommodate the global output of more than 40 percent of automobiles that are manufactured in North America and China today.
LG Hausys currently holds more than 10 percent of the global auto skin market shares, placing them as the third biggest supplier in the world. LG Hausys is expected to increase its market share with its strength of being easy to clean, foul resistant and the world’s first biomaterial bases material that is eco-friendly.
On the day of the opening ceremony, Mr. Jang-Soo Oh, the CEO of LG Hausys, announced, “Throughout continued investment since the establishment of mock marble corporate body in the United States back in 2004, our company sales have now reached up to $310 million, carrying about 400 employees in 2015.” Mr. Oh also stated, “Our Autoskin Plant’s first and utmost goal is to provide customers with products and services with better qualities to lead the America auto market.”
