ATLANTA -- John O. Schwenn, vice president for academic affairs at Emporia State University in Kansas, was named president of Dalton State College on Friday by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
Schwenn is to assume the position next March.
Schwenn is student-focused and a consensus builder," said James R. Jolly, who served as the chairman of the committee that interviewed presidential finalists. "He strongly believes in collaboration and the power of partnerships. He has the ability to move Dalton State forward."
Schwenn has held his post at Emporia since 1997 and has been associated with the college since 1989. He taught at Delta State University in Mississippi from 1976-1989.
