YOUTH GYMNASTICS: Rome Aerials teams have best showing of season

The Rome Aerials gymnastics team had a successful showing last weekend competing at the Grant A Wish Classic in Hiram.

The Level 3 team, coached by Ansley Parrish and Chloe Schuttinga, took home first place in its division with seven of the 16 members scoring a 36 or higher. Placing first on an individual or all-around were Bailey Hastings, Naomi Goodwin and Evie Shropshire. The team scored an overall 110.75.

The Xcel Team was led by Kami Owens placing first on vault and second on bars. Mattilyn Day took home the gold on floor while Ellie Grace Carver took second on bars. They are coached by Erin Bishop, Taylor Arasmith and Courtney Tenney.

The Level 7 Team took home third in its devision, missing out on first by three-tenths of a point. The team was led by Jocelyn Parker’s first place on bars, while BriAnna Hibberts, Bethanee Wiggins and Abigail Cooper placed second in multiple events.

In the Level 8 session, Raegan Bohn took home the gold on bars and third all-around, while Ada Clark took second on floor. In the last session, Level 9 Blythe Crabbe took first in the all-around and on beam.
