Local golf pro Brian Albertson has received a high honor by the organization he has served for several years and continues to help lead.
Albertson was presented with the Georgia PGA’s Golf Professional of the Year Award during the section’s 11th Annual Special Awards and Weir Scholarship Banquet last Saturday at SunTrust Park.
The award is determined annually by the Georgia PGA to honor the working club professional whose total contributions to the game best exemplify the complete PGA golf professional.
While the honor is based on the person’s entire record, special emphasis is placed on performance in areas such as service to the section and the Association, leadership ability, and the promotion of golf.
Albertson, who has been head professional at Coosa Country Club since 1998, has worked to bring junior golf events and programs to the club.
In addition to helping the Rome Junior Golf Association, he also has been instrumental in developing the Coosa Junior Golf Academy.
He is currently the president of the Georgia PGA, Past President of the Georgia PGA Foundation (formerly the Georgia Junior Golf Foundation), and has hosted a tournament for the American Junior Golf Association for many years.
