TENNIS: Gordon Lee splits matches at Heritage

The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans picked up a 4-1 win at Heritage on Tuesday afternoon, but the Trojans could not complete the sweep as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Generals.

The Lady Trojans picked up two points in singles as Madison Hilley defeated Emily Hulsey, 6-2, 6-0, and Katie Barger shut out Madi Hobbs, 6-0, 6-0.

Heritage won at No. 3 singles as Sarah Mason took down Bonnie Hankins, 6-1, 6-2.

Gordon Lee won the two doubles matches to polish off the win. The team of Tori McElhaney and Sara Clayton beat Catherine Pugsley and Savanah Viars, 6-2, 6-4, while Sara Holcomb and Katherine Chambers topped Lydia Geabou and Ashten Cabe, 8-2.

The Lady Trojans are now 4-6 on the season.

On the boys' side, Heritage claimed all three singles matches. Hunter Long beat Joseph Looney, 6-2, 6-0. Andy Besh downed Jonathan Bettis, 6-1, 6-1, and Heritage won the No. 3 singles match by forfeit.

The team of Mathew Williams and Jared Eslinger got the final point for the Generals with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Kalen Bradley and Brayden Born.

Gordon Lee's Logan Davis and Chandler Steele salvaged a point for the Trojans with a 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 thriller over Hunter Wilson and Travis Kammerer.

The Trojans dropped to 2-8 on the year.
