SOFTBALL: Travel team wins World Series

The Georgia Dream, a travel softball team comprised of players from Northwest Georgia, won the GSA Georgia World Series on Sunday. Their final game of the series was a 7-0 win against the Valkyries. The team’s coach Jody Touchstone said, “I thought the whole team — we’ve got 14 girls, and every girl contributed, from the pitching game to the bats. Everything clicked. I couldn’t be more proud of how the girls played.”

The Dream’s roster includes players from multiple locals schools including Armuchee’s Allison Acker and Lindsey Smith, Pepperell’s Erika Rickman, Bailey Jackson, Jessica Arnold and Casey Padgett, Rome High’s Lindsey Touchstone, Hannah Abbott, Megan Harrell, Sarah Franklin and Tashira Welch, Coosa’s Callie Wilson, Model’s Kayla Merritt and Woodland’s Taylor Brasselton.
