Softball: Make-up scrimmages set for today at Pepperell

  • ()

With the weather expected to cooperate this time, the Pepperell softball program is set to host “Play Days, Part II.”

The event — which will contain a “triple-header” of scrimmages involving several local teams — was originally scheduled for earlier this month, but the games were interrupted by rain.

The postponement might prove to be advantageous since the scrimmages will now be take place much closer to the start of the regular season.

“With the season being two weeks away, this should be very beneficial for both the coaches and the players,” said Pepperell coach Jeff Rickman.

“It gives us (coaches) a chance to see what the players can do.”

Today’s action begins with Rome playing Pepperell at 10 a.m., followed by Coosa facing Woodland at 11:50 a.m. The day will conclude with Rome facing Cedartown at 1:40 p.m.

Several local teams will open the regular season on Aug. 8-10 in the annual Model Lady Devil Classic at Alto Park.
