SOCCER: Rockmart's games against Model have been moved up a day

The Rockmart High School soccer teams have already played one game in messy, rainy weather. This time around, they are going to try and avoid that.

With bad weather expected to arrive Friday, the Rockmart soccer teams have moved their contest against Model up a day to Thursday. The game will be at Model, with the Lady Jackets starting at 5 p.m. and the Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m.

Both Rockmart teams will enter the non-region contest with some momentum. On Tuesday, both Rockmart teams defeated Bremen.

The Yellow Jackets won their contest 2-0.

Byron Parris scored the first goal for Rockmart in the opening game, and later Galen Ambrose scored on a header off of a cross pass from Jose Gutierrez.

Head coach James Schroeder also noted that Trace Forsyth had a great save on a breakaway play to preserve the shutout for Rockmart.

“I will be the first to admit, parts of it were not pretty,” Schroeder said. “But things finally started to click and this is a huge win for us.”
