Ringgold finished third to Sonoraville on Saturday, Feb. 2 in the Area 2-AAA tournament at Central Carrollton, while crowning one champion.

Sam Shepard continued to shine for the Tigers by winning the individual title at 120-pounds.

The Blue-and-White, led by head coach David Moss, had six moreĀ grapplers qualify for the state sectionals. Adam Crawford was runner-up at 138 with Wyatt Shepard (160), Simon Steadman (170), Zach Collins (185) and Jesse Wade (H) finishing third and Dylan Hitchcox (145) fourth.

Adrian Hart (152) at fifth and Clipper Smith (195) at sixth just missed qualifying for the sectionals.

Moss said he was pleased with his grapplers and he was looking forward to the state sectionals.

"I'm really proud," he said. "We've been working very hard trying to get back to being competitive at the highest level. We still have two weeks to work and improve."

Ringgold will also host the state sectionals.

On the other side of the county, Nate Long was the only individual champion for LFO. The senior won the 195-pound class.
