On a hot Wednesday afternoon, the finest softball players in the state of Georgia gathered to showcase their skills during the final day of the annual Georgia Athletic Coaches Association North/South All-Star Softball Classic hosted by Shorter University.
After two days of practice and contests, the select 32 played a doubleheader to see who really was the best of the best.
The players were divided into a North and South team during the three-day event.
After the doubleheader Wednesday, neither team was able to walk away with full bragging rights. The North and South team split the doubleheader.
The South All-Star team took the first game by the score of 5-1 and the North All-Stars won the second game, 4-3.
“The game is just a culmination and the pinnacle of what we are doing here,” Shorter head coach Al Thomas said. “These are some of the best softball players in the country.
“It was so hot today and we saw a great turn out. Everyone, players especially, had a great time” Thomas added.
The GACA will make a visit to Rome next year for the fourth annual North/South All-Star Softball Classic.
