PREP ROUNDUP: Skinner lifts Lady Indians to win vs. Pepperell

Livia Skinner racked up 21 points Friday night to lift the Armuchee girls’ basketball team to a 58-44 win against host Pepperell.

The win improved the Lady Indians to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in region play.

Brandy Ann Wacker added 15 points for the Lady Indians, and Karson Fallin scored 12.

Pepperell was led by Grace Hufford with 22 points.

Armuchee will next face Sonoraville on Monday at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the Seven Hills Rotary/Rome News-Tribune Holiday Festival Tournament at Georgia Highlands College.

Coosa girls 55, Cedartown 37

The Coosa girls’ basketball team held off late rallies from Cedartown on Friday and pulled away for a 55-37 win against the Lady Bulldogs.

Emma Reynolds led the Lady Eagles with 22 points and five assists; Taylor Roberts had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Carrah Arrant added seven points and 10 boards.

Coosa will face Darlington on Monday at Georgia Highlands College at 3 p.m. in the opening round of the Seven Hills Rotary/Rome News-Tribune Holiday Festival Tournament.

Model girls 72, Calhoun 44

Victaria Saxton scored 28 points to carry the Model girls’ basketball team to a 72-44 home win against Calhoun on Friday night.

Montana Moates added 13 points for the Lady Blue Devils (8-2), and Libby Upton scored 10.

Model (8-2) will next face the winner of Cartersville and Woodland in the Seven Hills Rotary/Rome News-Tribune Holiday Festival Tournament on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Georgia Highlands College.

Pepperell boys 88, Armuchee 52

Dawson Melton scored 16 points Friday night as the Pepperell boys’ basketball team rolled to an 88-52 win against host Armuchee.

Branson Hanks added 14 points for the Dragons (2-2, 2-2), Jamal Ware scored 12, and Blake Vasser added 11 points.

Pepperell will next face Cartersville on Monday at Berry College in the opening round of the Seven Hills Rotary/Rome News-Tribune Holiday Festival Tournament.

Unity Chr. boys 61, Cornerstone Chr. 42

The Unity Christian boys’ basketball team improved their record to 6-1 with a 61-42 home win against Cornerstone Christian Academy.

Josiah Petro led the Lions with 11 points, Jansen Slaughter had 10 points, Graham Wisner had nine points, and Eli Wells finished with eight points.

Unity will next face Academy of the Oaks on the road in Decatur on Monday.
