Prep lacrosse: Lady Tigers falls short of first region win

  • ()

Traveling to Westminster is traditionally a tough assignment for the Darlington girls lacrosse team, and that was true again on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers fell to Westminster, 19-2, in their first region matchup of the season.

Katie Cox had one of Darlington’s goals and Morgan Sidwell had the second.

Anna Kate Dulaney had an assist.

The Lady Tigers’ loss drops them to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the region.

Darlington faced West-minster without three of its starters — Jade Cox, Bailey Brock and Sarah Manning — who are on the Lady Tiger basketball team.

(The basketball team is still alive in the postseason, and visits St. Francis tonight in the Elite Eight).

The Lady Tiger lacrosse team was also without those three starters in their season-opening road loss to Hill Grove.

Darlington will host Wheeler today for a non-region matchup.

Most of the other prep action that was scheduled for Tuesday was postponed by rain and/or unplayable field conditions.
