GOLF: Cedartown teams start strong

Golf season got under way on Monday for the Cedartown High School golf teams.

Playing at Meadow Lakes Golf Club, the Bulldogs picked up a comfortable win over the Pepperell Dragons. The Bulldogs shot a 173 on the day, while the Dragons clubbed a 213.

Daniel King led the Bulldogs by shooting a 42. Austin Smith shot a 43, Dalton Puckett finished with a 44 and Andrew Crider had a 44.

Austin Alred (48) and Peyton Payne (53) also played for the Bulldogs, but their score did not count toward the final team score.

Pepperell had only one girl, and she shot a 63. Meghan Keith led the Lady Bulldogs by carding a 45.

Wednesday’s match against Polk County rival Rockmart at Meadow Lakes Golf Club was cancelled due to weather, Cedartown head coach Bob Tracy stated.

Members of the Bulldogs golf team this season are Austin Alred, Daniel King, Andrew Crider, Austin Smith, Dalton Puckett, Wesley Weaver, Bryson Hatch and Peyton Payne.

Members of the Lady Bulldogs squad are Meghan Keith, Heather Swafford and Savannah Bentley.

The Cedartown teams are scheduled to play again Tuesday against Bowdon at the Meadow Lakes Golf Club.
