GOLF: Cedartown's Keith placed 12th at state

Cedartown High School’s Meghan Keith proved to be one of the better golfers at the Class AAAA golf state tournament on Monday.

Playing at Nob North Golf Course in Cohutta, Keith tied for 12th in the state with Dalton’s Carson Roberts. The two players from Region 7-AAAA both shot a 90 on the day.

Carrollton’s Sydney Needham won the state low medalist with a score of 74. Kayla Wilbourn of Cairo came in second with a score of 78.

Region 7-AAAA had six golfers place in the top 17 of the state tournament. Southeast Whitfield’s Megan Collins led the way with an 81.

As a team, Carrollton won the state tournament, carding a 250. Columbus (263), Dalton (276), Veterans (292) and Burke County (293) rounded out the top five.
