The Darlington Lady Tigers’ basketball team will begin their state tournament run tonight against Providence Christian at home at 6 p.m.
The Lady Tigers are the No. 6 seed and own a 20-7 record heading into the first round of the Class A private school tournament.
“We feel confident,” said Darlington girls’ head coach Josh Hembree. “We’ve had four good days of practice this week. I feel both mentally and physically the girls are where we want them to be. We have a lot of respect for them (Providence Christian). We’ll have our hands full.”
Darlington has plenty to be confident about this season with wins against high-ranked teams Holy Innocents’ and Southwest Atlanta Christian. Darlington also won the RN-T/Seven Hills Rotary Club Holiday Festival in December.
“We go in with confidence,” said Hembree. “We know we’ll play at a high level. We haven’t changed a whole lot. We want to go in and execute to the best of our ability. It’s gotten us this far.”
