FOOTBALL: Rome Wolves team is honored at state Capitol

  • ()

The Georgia State Capitol went to the Wolves on Thursday as the Rome High School football team was recognized in both the House and the Senate for their state championship season.

Head coach John Reid was accompanied by a group of players on the floor of both chambers and presented by local legislators — Rep. Katie Dempsey, Rep. Eddie Lumsden, and Rep. Christian Coomer in the House, and Sen. Chuck Hufstetler in the Senate.

Both bodies adopted and presented resolutions congratulating the team on winning the 2016 GHSA Class 5A state championship and finishing with a 13-2 record.

The entire team attended each session and then posed on the main steps of the Capitol rotunda for a photo with Gov. Nathan Deal and local state legislators.
