The Ringgold baseball team defeated the Coahulla Creek Colts 10-0 on Tuesday, April 23.

The Tigers put together 10 hits, including home runs by Slade Dale and Zach Morris to help senior pitcher Austin Parrish earn the victory.

Parrish pitched all five innings and had his no-hitter broken up on two fifth-inning hits.

The Ringgold win destroyed any hopes of the Region 5-AAA Colts advancing to the state playoffs.

Ringgold head coach Brent Tucker said he was pleased with the victory, and looking forward to his youngsters hosting Jackson County on Friday in the state playoffs. The first game is set for 4 p.m.

“I’m proud as heck of all of these boys,” he said. “At the first of the season people kept asking how they were going to respond, but here we are second in the region.”

The Blue-and-White lost eight seniors from the team that finished runners-up in the Class AAA State Tournament in 2012.

Tucker said his team was “trying to get some momentum going into the playoffs.”

The win extended the Tigers’ streak to eight games.

Dale started things off for Ringgold in the No. 2 spot in the batting order with a home run in the opening inning. The Tigers extended their lead to 3-0 following two more hits and three errors.

Morris, a sophomore first baseman, blasted a three-run homer in the second inning after Dale scored the game’s fourth run on a double.

On Friday, April 26, Ringgold fell, 3-1 to East Hamilton in 11 innings.

Tanner Ungos was the winning pitcher and got the game-winning bunt in the top of the 11th inning. He went three innings on the mound, struck out three batters and allowed only one hit.

Dale had an RBI double for Ringgold.
