  • ()

The Cedartown Bulldogs made only 11 field goals Friday night during a 47-34 loss to Pickens in a Region 7-AAAA, sub-region 'A' home game.

Both teams started the game slow offensively, with the first point not coming until 5:51 remained in the opening quarter. That point came from an Aaron Borders free throw to give Cedartown a 1-0 advantage.

The first basket from the field did not come until 5:13 left in the quarter when a Pickens player converted a jumper.

Pickens led 5-3 after the first quarter, but both teams started to pick up the pace in the next frame.

With the game tied at seven early in the second quarter, Pickens went on an 8-3 spurt to go ahead 15-10.

Cedartown stayed close, thanks to the strong play of TJ Ector who had eight points in the period, and the Bulldogs had a chance to cut Pickens lead late in the first half but missed back-to-back three-pointer attempts.

The Dragons made a three-pointer at the first-half buzzer to stretch their lead to 25-16 at the break.

Pickens opened the third quarter on a 15-3 run to pull away from Cedartown (0-16 overall, 0-4 sub-region) and sail to the win.

Ector led Cedartown with 10 points. Tyrell Pace scored seven, Bryceland Brown six and Exzavier Pace added five.
