BASKETBALL: Rockmart players are honored at Tip-Off Club Banquet

The 27th annual Northwest Georgia Tip-Off Club Banquet was held Monday at Berry College’s Krannert Center and several Rockmart High School basketball players were honored.

Rockmart’s Tay Twine (boys) and Kalisha Printup (girls) were chosen as the Rockmart Players of the Year at the banquet. Savannah Sewell (girls) and Jerran Phillips (boys) were chosen as the December Players of the Month for Rockmart. Nykrisha Middlebrooks (girls) and Kwame Peek (boys) were selected as the January Players of the Month for Rockmart.

The Northwest Georgia Tip-Off Club named Gordon Lee’s Kassidy Blevins and Calhoun’s Taylor Palmer as the high school girls most valuable players this season. Cartersville’s Ryan Davis and Excel’s Rudy Winters earned the boys honors.

Calhoun’s Jerry Pruett and Sonoraville’s Stephanie Caudell were honored as the girls coaches of the year. Excel’s Jon-Michael Nickerson and Cartersville’s Mike Tobin were chosen as the boys coaches of the year.

The teams of the year were Calhoun (girls), Sonoraville (girls), Cartersville (boys) and Excel (boys).

Mike Roper was selected as the referee of the year, Ken Jones of Pepperell was named as the bus driver of the year, and Hugh Selman won the Graham Woodell Award.
