BASEBALL: Rockmart dominates B.E.S.T Academy

The Rockmart Yellow Jackets baseball team continued their late season surge on Thursday.

Playing at home on Senior Night, the Yellow Jackets won game one of a doubleheader against the B.E.S.T Academy 16-1 in four innings before winning game two by the exact same score of 16-1.

With the win, Rockmart (9-16 overall, 6-8 region) have now won their last three games by a total of 44-2.

Rockmart wasted no time in taking charge against the B.E.S.T Academy in game one, sending 13 batters to the plate in the first inning and scoring eight runs. Tritt Fennell had the big bat in the first frame for the Yellow Jackets, leading off the inning with a triple and later knocking in two-runs on a double.

Fennell went 3-for-3 with a triple, two doubles, four RBI and a walk in the Region 4-AAA game. Alex Baldwin added a two-run triple in the fourth inning for Rockmart.

On the mound, left-hander Cole Hulsey was dominant. Hulsey allowed one run on two hits and he struck out eight batters.
