BASEBALL: Cedartown defeats Model, 12-5

The Cedartown Bulldogs (6-2) took advantage of four Model errors and five walked batters to pick up a 12-5 non-region home win on Friday.

With the score knotted at four, the Bulldogs erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull ahead 9-4 and never look back. Cedartown scored the five runs despite getting only three hits in the inning.

After a run scored on an error, Brett Prince smacked an RBI double to make it 6-4. A wild pitch allowed another Cedartown runner to score and then a fourth run scored on a fielding error. The last run scored on Jimmy Hand's RBI double to right field.

Prince led the Bulldogs offense, going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Hand finished 2-for-3 with a walk, two doubles and three RBI. Blake Oxenreider had an RBI double, Kory Lindsey had an RBI double while Brandon Cheatwood, Cody Mesta and Austin Bradshaw each had a single.

For Model (3-4), River Brannon went 2-for-4 with two singles and two runs scored.

Cedartown plays again Saturday, hosting Coosa in a non-region game at 1 p.m. Model will play again on Thursday, visiting Dade County.
