BASEBALL: Calhoun downs Cass for non-region home win

Calhoun scored early and steadily increased their lead throughout the game in a non-region home win on Wednesday.

The Jackets (10-1) scored one in the first and two each in the third, fourth and sixth. John Alan Kendrick led the offense with two hits, including a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Avery Johnson had a hit and two runs scored, and Westin McArthur and Spencer cross each had a hit and an RBI apiece. Brett Peek, Logan Walraven and Matt McHan also had hits in the win.

Jon Register earned the win, going five innings on the mound and striking out 11 while allowing just two hits. Easton Gallman worked the final two innings, giving up a run (unearned) on two hits and striking out one.

The Jackets are back on the road on Thursday for a region contest, visiting Model.
