Chandler Bridges did everything he could to earn a win on the mound Tuesday night, even when he wasn’t pitching the ball.
Bridges threw a complete game two-hitter and started the rally that scored the winning run in Rome’s 2-1 win against Kennesaw Mountain at Legion Field. It was the Wolves’ third one-run win in their last four games.
Xavier Roberts led the Wolves (5-3) going 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Knox Kadum added a double. It all added to a dominating start by Bridges, who also recorded eight strikeouts in seven innings.
After Kennesaw Mountain scored a run in the top of the third, doubles from Roberts and Kadum tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Then, after Bridges started the sixth inning with a single, Jakolbi Griffin knocked in pinch-runner Tristian Tillery off a double down the left field line.
The Wolves play again today at home against Adairsville at 5:30 p.m.
