Woman charged with attempting to smuggle drugs into jail

A Rome woman has been jailed after reportedly attempting to smuggle diazepam into the Floyd County Jail.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Angela Lucille Chatman, 53, of 16 Rebecca St. was arrested just after 10 p.m. Thursday night when she attempted to carry the drugs into the jail concealed in a shoe.

She was charged with felony possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, felony crossing a guard line with contraband, a felony failure to appear in court warrant and a misdemeanor for having drugs not in an original container.

Chatman is being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond on the failure to appear in court charge.
