A Rome man accused of fighting with police and nurses at Floyd Medical Center’s emergency room was released Wednesday on $5,700 bail.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Andrew William Fowler, 36, of 888 Old Bells Ferry Road, was arrested on warrants charging him with felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor hindering emergency personnel and disorderly conduct.

Fowler was yelling and causing a scene inside the behavioral health area of FMC’s emergency room around 11 p.m. on Nov. 30. He scared several patients and his actions tied up nurses and other medical personnel, preventing them from taking care of other people.

When police arrived, he resisted arrest by striking an officer, kicking him and grabbing his shirt so that it ripped open.
