A Rome teenager was being held on $16,700 bond Saturday night after Rome police charged her with possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of a pistol, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Maresha Courtia Alexander, 19, of 34 Shade Tree Lane, is charged with felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and two counts of purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana.
She was arrested Friday night at the intersection of West Third Street and Second Avenue. Police pulled her over for turning right onto Second Avenue from West Third Street during a red light, which is prohibited in the area.
Police found the marijuana and a Glock handgun under her driver’s seat. In Georgia, she isn’t old enough to possess a handgun and a carry permit can’t be purchased until age 21.
She was also charged with failure to obey traffic control devices and possessing and carrying a concealed weapon without a license.
