Rome Police are continuing to search for a suspect who held up a clerk at the S & K store, 1905 Shorter Ave. just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Rome Police reports:

The suspect entered the store and approached a female clerk. When the man turned towards her, the clerk could see that he was wearing a black ski mask. He demanded all of the cash and pulled out a silver handgun, prompting the clerk to surrender approximately $500 in cash along with her personal cell phone.

A witness reported seeing a man matching the robber’s description run to a white vehicle parked on Morgan Place behind the S & K.

The phone was later recovered from the street at the intersection of Burnett Ferry Road and Betty K Avenue, where it had been run over by traffic.

Officers were able to recover a grainy surveillance tape from an adjacent business, which did not provide much help in providing clues to the suspect’s identity.
